Happy Mid-Autumn Festival 2017!

Mooncake and Tea
Before I start, First, Richard and I are greeting you all a Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!
As you read this post we hope you have enjoyed and won lots of prizes from your family/friends gathering of Pua Tiong Chui and enjoyed the yummy mooncake.

I’ve been celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival every year when I was still in the Philippines.
Mid Autumn Festival or the Chinese Moon festival is celebrated annually by Chinese (not sure if Japanese, Koreans and Vietnamese celebrate as well). I’ve always looked forward to this fun festival yearly (besides CNY). For me, this is actually the only occasion that brings old friends, high-school and college batch mate and even family association friends together to celebrate. This holiday is all about giving thanks for nature’s abundance and for joyful reunions with loved ones. Actually, Mid-Autumn Festival most closely resembles Thanksgiving among American holidays. It’s the time of year to enjoy the pleasures of togetherness. And, of course, there’s plenty of scrumptious food. Oh Btw, Unless you live near Chinatown, however, you probably won’t notice much hubbubs around on this holiday festival.

In the Philippines, There are three components to the night of Mid-Autumn Festival (1) scrumptious dinner (2) dice game with lots of prizes, oh there’s cash as well and (3) giving or exchanging  of mooncakes (yue bing ). Mooncakes are undeniably the Mid-Autumn Festival’s iconic food! Oh before I forget, on this day the moon is always at its fullest and brightest of the whole year as they say it tends to inspire people’s anticipation for joy and happiness.

Excuse my chopstick :)
Since I’ve moved overseas, celebrating Mid-Autumn festival is not that much of fun and exciting like it used to be. But hubby and I still try to celebrate occasions like this even if it’s just the two of us. For this year’s Mooncake festival we just had a simple dinner at our go to Chinese restaurant (Auntie Wang's) and capped off the night with tea and mooncake at home. Hope to be celebrating this holiday in PH soon!
